TECHNICAL
MANAGEMENT

Our Technical Office, made up of passionate people, offers customers excellent services, professionalism, reliability and high working standards.

The Technical Management provides specialist consultancy services, including:

​

• Maintenance and supervision of ships under management • Vessel inspections, including inspection, pre-inspection, evaluation, condition surveys, ISM and ISO audits • Preparation for port state inspections and control; • Ship security, including assessment audits (ISPS) • Preparation of SOPEP (Emergency Plan for Oil Pollution on Board Ships) and SMPEP (Emergency Plans for Marine Pollution on Board Ships) • Pre-purchase inspections • On-site supervision for new construction • Supervision of dry dock repairs • Maintenance and reactivation of decommissioned ships • Ballast Water Management Plan (IMO RES. A.868), Bio-fouling Management Plan (MEPC Res. 378 (80) and other plans

CREW
MANAGEMENT

The crew department's human resources are well qualified and experienced in sourcing high quality seafarer personnel at all levels of seniority, for owned vessels and third party vessels, or assets, and in providing the following services for seafarers:

• Training and refresher courses • Definition of the experiences, certifications and licenses required based on the specific request • Crew changes, travel arrangements, such as flight reservations and related visa application support • Request for flag State certification and authorisations/approvals • Deployment and career planning • Compliance with the ILO and MLC Convention

COMMERCIAL and OPERATION MANAGEMENT

The resources of the commercial and operation departments are dedicated, respectively, to optimizing the use of the ships and the correct execution of the voyage/contract.

 

Their focus is centered on:

• Search for short or long term uses that can maximize profits for the Owner • Follow and analyze the trend of the World Wide Market • Draft or modify rental agreements • Instructions and relationships with the Commander • Relationships with Owners / Charterers in the execution of the relevant contracts • Create and maintain relationships with bunkering agencies and companies to ensure the best cost/benefit ratio • Draft or check and confirm letters of indemnity (LOI) where the unloading takes place without the presence of bills of lading (Bill of Lading) • Make sure you have the correct necessary documentation required by the Port Authorities • Relationships with P&I for insurance coverage, disputes / claims • Relationships with insurers Hull & Machinery and War Risks

ADMINISTRATION and ACCOUNTING
MANAGEMENT

The administration sector is made up of highly qualified resources with proven many years of experience in the reference sector of shipping companies, carrying out.

In particular the following activity:

• Planning, management and control of the administrative, accounting and financial process of companies • General accounting, active and passive invoicing cycle, periodic VAT payment • Keeping of VAT registers, journals and inventory books • Keeping of all mandatory corporate books • Analytical accounting and preparation of periodic reports • Budget drafting and management performance control • Monitoring of company cash flow • Management of relationships with banks and credit institutions • Coordination of business processes • Drafting of interim and annual financial statements complete with explanatory notes and financial statements • Development and drafting of consolidated financial statements • Determination of income taxes both analytically and in a flat rate regime • Preparation of Lipe Communications and the annual VAT return • Processing of annual income tax returns for IRES and IRAP purposes • Management of relationships with external bodies, auditors and control bodies, relationships with Ade and social security and welfare bodies

HISTORY

Ships Surveys and Service Srl, based in Piazza Municipio 84 80133 Naples (SSS) owned by Umberto and Angelo D'Amato, was founded in Naples in 1985 as a Ships Management Company and was structured to offer services to the Fratelli D'Amato SpA and Perseveranza SpA di Navigazione, belonging to the group of the D'Amato Shipowners Family. Since the start of the Company, thanks to the quality of the service provided, the company has acquired several Italian and International customers external to the D'Amato family, including the management of several New Building projects also, the technical supervision and the full management of dry bulk and tanker vessels into International navigation. To date, SSS exclusively manages vessels for third parties. Recently SSS has acquired among his clients one of the leading Harbour Tug companies in Italy, supervising the repair works of a fleet of 20 harbour tugs, based in the main port of the South of Italy ( Napoli, Bari Taranto ,Gaeta ). Such experience in technical and crew management enables the company to provide professional management to various types of vessels such as bulk carriers and tankers, harbor tugs. Since 2001 SSS operates in the Ship Management-Shipbuilding sector independently and its skillful combination of technical and administrative activity has made the Company well known for its cost-efficient management for third-party ships, guaranteeing the maximum flexibility in the management of financial flows related to ship management activities.

The Integrated Management System (IMS) is approved by the RINA Class. The Integrated Management System (IMS) is in line with our company's policy of quality, health, safety and environmental protection, our ships which regularly call at ports around the world have been well accepted for their high safety standards and pollution prevention measures. Vega Uno:
our research boat
 

Our research boat Vega Uno is used for Special Scientific or Research Services in national navigation and is used for characterization and sampling campaigns of the water column with CTD and Rosette probes, multibeam bathymetric surveys, tide gauge surveys, geophysical investigations with systems sparker or sub bottom profiler, magnetometric investigations and are prepared to perform visual inspections with R.O.V. systems.
